❖ 1st Kristin, how are you? It is an honor for Catharsis... and for your server that you have accepted this interview

❖ 2nd We know that you were born in Sweden, Karlstad Municipality, Värmland specifically, but could you tell us a little more about yourself please?
That's true, I'm from the forests of Värmland. Started playing piano when I was 7 and started writing my own songs when I was 11 or something. I've always loved music.
❖ 3rd We understand that you came to DSO in 2014, how have these 6 years been with the band?
Wonderful. I'm so happy life brought us together. I've had so much fun together with these guys and it has been such a journey musically
❖ 4th I suppose that before joining Diablo Swing Orchestra, you have done some other things in your career, tell us:
After I finished highschool in 2010 I recorded my first, and only, solo album called "Time is just a matter of time". After that I played a lot together with my friend Ia Öberg; pianist, singer and flutist who now plays in two other bands Lykantropi and John Moose. It was actually in one of my and Ia's gigs in Karlstad that Johan Norbäck saw us play and afterwards asked me if I was interested in coming to Stockholm to audition for becoming the new singer of DSO.
❖ 5th In 2014 DSO played in Mexico with you already in their ranks, would you like to perform again in this country?
Absolutely - we really hope to be able to come back sometime next year.
❖ 6th Did you know anything about Mexico? The legends about super rock stars walking incognito in the cities they visit are very common, did something like this happen with you here?
Apart from having really great tequila and nice food, the others in the band had told me the guys are an amazing crowd to play for, so I was really looking forward to the shows!Actually one fan ran up to us when we were walking down I think like the main shopping road or something towards Plaza de la Constitución in Mexico City - so not that much of incognito after all ;)
❖ 7th Tell us a little about Superhero Jagganath, in addition to the lyrics of the song, that part of the video clip where the band appears in black and white is striking, you remind me of another historical band.
Had so much fun when writing that song. We really took advantage and utilized the knowledge and talent of each band member. Yeah, I guess we were a little inspired by Queen ;)
❖ 8th You are a great singer and you play the piano in an incredible way, you must have other skills, for example, do you participate in the composition of DSO's music?
Thank you so much. Yes I do, I'm very much involved in the basic song-structure of all the songs as well as the lead melody. I wrote approximately half of the lyrics on Pacifisticuffs and maybe like a third of the lyrics for our upcoming album "Swagger and stroll down the rabbit hole" . It took A LOT of time writing the song in spanish on this album - that was one hell of a challenge, haha. I really hope it will land well. We even had a girl from Mexico in the studio to get the pronunciation right.
❖ 9th This question may have been asked you many times, but tell us, do you have any heroine or hero that has inspired you?
Not like a specific one, but as a little girl I loved singing to all of Carola Häggqvist's songs (famous singer in Sweden), so I guess she was like a heroine of mine back then. I thought she had so much power in her voice. As a teenager I got inspired by Kate Bush. I noticed my voice had some similarities with hers and had a lot of fun trying to imitate her. At one of my gigs someone came up to me and told me my voice and piano playing reminded of Tori Amos, and after that I started listening a lot to her music and she definitely has become somewhat of a heroine to me.
❖ 10º What do you feel about being the heroine, without a doubt, of many singers now?
Oh, I haven't thought that much about it - but I'm really glad if I can be someone's source of inspiration in any way :)
❖ 11th We know that because of COVID-19 many things have stopped, but what are your plans musically speaking?
Our plan was to do a european tour this fall, but that has been postponed. Now we hope to be able to focus on the summer festivals of 2021 and go back on the road next fall instead.
❖ 12th Many artists have done concerts online, would Diablo Swing Orchestra do it?
Yeah, we have thought about it, but nothing planned atm.
❖ 13th Kristin, what do you prefer, download music or buy it?
Buying it, but most of the time I just use some of the streaming services.
❖ 14th And your favorite genres?
I like almost all genres. Depending on the mood.
❖ 15th It is clear that your voice is perfect for the DSO style. How do you label your range, how do you catalog it?
When I was singing in a choir I was one of the sopranos. Still my range is quite wide, I can sing both alto and soprano, so maybe mezzo-soprano would be a better way to label my range. I like playing around with my voice, using both my chest voice, head voice and mixed voice.
❖ 16th Any anecdote that you want to share with us about the tours with Diablo Swing Orchestra
Hmm, I guess one funny thing I could mention was when we had been on tour in Mexico last time and was on our way home with our bags full of gifts from all our sweet fans. The staff at the airport in Amsterdam were very suspicious of all the skulls in sugar that we had been given, so it took a looong time before we got out of the security checks, haha
❖ 17th Do you have a date for a new Diablo Swing Orchestra album?
We are planning to release one or two singles in the end of 2020, then the whole album in the beginning of 2021.

❖ 1º ¿Kristin, como estas? Es un honor para Catharsis... y para tu servidor que hayas aceptado esta entrevista
Estoy bien, gracias, espero que todo esté bien contigo también.
❖ 2º Sabemos que naciste en Suecia, Karlstad Municipality, Värmland concretamente, pero ¿podrías contarnos un poco más de ti por favor? }
Es cierto, soy de los bosques de Värmland. Empecé a tocar el piano cuando tenía 7 años y empecé escribiendo mis propias canciones cuando tenía 11 años o algo así. Siempre me ha gustado la música.
❖ 3º Tenemos entendido que llegaste a DSO en 2014, ¿Cómo han sido estos 6 años con la banda?
Maravilloso. Estoy tan feliz que la vida nos unió. Me he divertido mucho con estos chicos y ha sido un gran viaje musicalmente.
❖ 4º Supongo que antes de formar parte de Diablo Swing Orchestra, haz hecho algunas otras cosas en tu carrera, cuéntanos:
Después de terminar la escuela secundaria en 2010, grabé mi primer y único álbum en solitario llamado "Time is just a matter of time". Después de eso toque mucho junto a mi amiga Ia Öberg; pianista, cantante y flautista que ahora toca en otras dos bandas Lykantropi y John Moose. En realidad, fue en uno de mis conciertos en Karlstad que Johan Norbäck nos vio tocar y luego me preguntó si estaba interesada en venir a Estocolmo para hacer una audición para convertirme en el nuevo cantante de DSO.
❖ 5º En 2014 DSO tocó en México ya contigo en sus filas, ¿te gustaría volver a presentarte en este país?
Absolutamente, realmente esperamos poder volver el
próximo año.
❖6º ¿Conociste algo de México? Las leyendas sobre super estrellas de rock paseando de incognito en las ciudades que visitan son muy comunes, ¿sucedió algo así contigo acá?
Aparte de tener un tequila realmente bueno y buena
comida, los otros en la banda me habían dicho que Los chicos son un público
increíble para tocar, ¡así que estaba ansiosa por ver los shows! En realidad,
un fan corrió hacia nosotros cuando caminábamos, creo que, por la principal
calle comercial o algo así, rumbo a la Plaza de la Constitución en la Ciudad de
México, así que no hubo mucho de incógnito después de todo ;)
❖ 7º Háblanos un poco sobre Superhero Jagganath, además de la letra de la canción, llama la atención esa parte del video clip donde aparece la banda en blanco y negro, ustedes me recuerdan a otra banda histórica.
Me divertí
mucho escribiendo esa canción. Realmente aprovechamos y utilizamos el
conocimiento y talento de cada miembro de la banda. Sí, supongo que Queen nos
inspiró un poco;)
❖ 8º Eres una gran cantante y tocas el piano de forma increíble, debes tener otras habilidades, por ejemplo, ¿participas en la composición de la música de DSO?
Muchas gracias. Sí, estoy muy involucrada en la
estructura básica de la composición de todas las canciones, así como la melodía
principal. Escribí aproximadamente la mitad de las letras de Pacifisticuffs y
tal vez como un tercio de la letra de nuestro próximo álbum Swagger
and stroll down the rabbit hole .. Me tomó mucho tiempo escribir la canción en
español en este álbum, eso fue un infierno de desafío, jaja. Realmente espero
que aterrice bien. Incluso tuvimos a una chica de México en el estudio para
obtener la pronunciación correcta.
❖ 9º Esta pregunta tal vez te la hayan hecho muchas veces, pero dinos, ¿tienes alguna heroína o héroe que te haya inspirado?
No como uno específico, pero cuando era niña me encantaba cantar todas las canciones de Carola Häggqvist. (cantante famosa en Suecia), así que supongo que era como una heroína mía en ese entonces. Pensé que ella tenía tanto poder en su voz. De adolescente me inspiré en Kate Bush. Noté que mi voz tenía algunas similitudes con la de ella y me divertía mucho tratando de imitarla. En uno de mis conciertos alguien se me acercó y me dijo que mi voz y mi piano recordaban a Tori Amos, y después de eso, comencé a escuchar mucho su música y definitivamente se ha convertido en una especie de heroína para mí.
❖ 10º ¿Qué sientes tú, de ser la heroína, sin duda, de muchas y muchos cantantes ahora?
Oh, no he pensado mucho en eso, pero estoy muy contenta si puedo ser la fuente de inspiración de cualquier manera :)
❖ 11º Sabemos que por causa del COVID-19 muchas cosas se han detenido, pero, ¿qué planes tienes musicalmente hablando?
Nuestro plan era hacer una gira europea este otoño, pero se ha pospuesto. Ahora esperamos ser capaces de concentrarnos en los festivales de verano de 2021 y volver a la carretera el próximo otoño.
❖ 12º Muchos artistas han hecho conciertos en línea, ¿Diablo Swing Orchestra lo haría?
Sí, lo hemos pensado, pero no planeado.
❖ 13º Kristin, ¿Qué prefieres, descargar música o comprarla?
Comprarlo, pero la mayoría de las veces solo uso algunos de los servicios de transmisión.
❖ 14º ¿Y tus géneros favoritos?
Me gustan casi todos los géneros. Dependiendo del
estado de ánimo.
❖ 15º Es claro que tu voz es perfecta para el estilo de DSO, ¿Cómo etiquetas tu rango, como lo catalogas?
Cuando cantaba en un coro, era una de las sopranos.
Todavía mi rango es bastante amplio, puedo cantar tanto alto como soprano, por
lo que tal vez mezzosoprano sería una mejor manera de etiquetar mi gama. me
gusta jugar con mi voz, usando tanto mi voz de pecho, voz líder y voz mixta.
❖ 16º Alguna anécdota que quieras compartirnos de las giras con Diablo Swing Orchestra
Hmm, supongo que una cosa graciosa que podría mencionar
fue la última vez que estuvimos de gira en México. íbamos de camino a
casa con nuestras bolsas llenas de regalos de todos nuestros dulces fans. El
personal del aeropuerto de Ámsterdam sospecharon mucho de todas las calaveras de
azúcar que nos habían dado, por lo que Tomó mucho tiempo antes de salir de los
controles de seguridad, jaja.
❖ 17º ¿Tienen fecha para un nuevo álbum de Diablo Swing Orchestra?
Estamos planeando lanzar uno o dos sencillos a fines
de 2020, luego el álbum completo a principios de 2021.
